Kalahari plainsgame
hunting
The Kalahari is home to
one of the most diverse
populations of wildlife in
Africa. Noteworthy
characters abound and a short
list would include the barking
gecko, meerkat, snakes,
pangolin, honey badger and
steenbok while at the other
end of the scale you’ll
encounter springbok,
wildebeest, sable, roan and
the majestic eland.
The smaller predators include
the fox, caracal, jackal and
brown hyenas with the larger
predators, cheetah, an
occasional leopard and finally
lions heading the list. These
may be encountered or
glassed during a normal days
hunt at Mankwe and will
certainly be part of your
hunting day.
Following our skilled
Kalahari trackers into the
grasslands and thorn country
is an education on its own
and as the days roll by you’ll
become a part of the most
diverse and demanding
ecosystem on earth and
slowly learn of its complexity.

Administration
Our plainsgame offer can be viewed on the next page.
Shooting distances are
longer than you’d
experience in the savannah
woodland or more heavily
forested areas further to the
north in Southern Africa.
Following your arrival and
after settling in, a session at
the range will determine
whether your rifle is still
shooting where you want it
to, noting that typically your
shooting distances will be to
150 - 200 metres.
